Due to the difficult situations children are experiencing, Together Foundation for Development and Human Rights with the support of Save the Children and  by coordinating with Dar Al –Tawjeeh El-Ejtema’ee  implemented a number of directed programs on children protection. One of these activities was to provide  a protective environment where all forms of violence are not any more existing, enabling children to participate in the activities, interacting with peers and adderssing their psychosocial needs through establishing CFS in Dar Al –Tawjeeh El-Ejtema’ee , Al-Amanh. In the CFS, psychosocial support services for children which let children express their fears, pains,and hopes for the sake of treatment and relief  were provided. Some recreational activities were carried out to eliminate the effects of psychological trauma that children have. Besides, orientation sessions were organized for children and their families on children protection issues in emergencies, and armed conflicts such as children recruitment, children marriage,  PFA, and MRE.

Child Friendly Space Objectives

  • Providing psychosocial support for children, setting up a suitable environment where childhood is tangible, and taking all types of psychological, mental, and physical stress away from children.
  • Giving an opportunity for children to play, learn, improve, rebuild their lives, and regain normal life.
  • Integrating children of SGC with the children of surrounding neighborhood.
  • Engaging the local community, building their capacities in responding to children protection cases during emergencies, activating their roles on monitoring the cases of violations regarding to children, and providing psychosocial support and convenient treatments to cases detected and referring them to related services.
  • Raising the awareness of children and their families on children protection issues (children recruitment- children marriage – PFA- MRE.. etc).

Target Group

  • Children at age of 6 to15 .
  • CFS surrounding neighborhood and community leaders ( local council members- neighborhood chiefs-parentsImams- young people- children).

Dar Al –Tawjeeh El- Ejtema’ee for Boys and surrounding neighborhoods, Al-Amanh.

Implementation Period

October – December, 2015

Implemented Activities

  • Structured activities ( drawing, collage, puppets show, folk -games, sport activities, and competitions targeted 176 children ( 108 boys – 68 girls).
  • Implemented a training workshop on how to manage and work in CFS during the period 24th– 29th October, 2015 targeted 20 of volunteers ( 9 males -11 females).
  • Held a number of meetings with the child protection committee.
  • Implemented a training workshop for the child protection committee on children protection and case management during the period 24th– 26th November, 2015  targeted 20 of people ( 16 males – 4 females).
  • Held awareness sessions on PFA and MRE during the period 8th– 10th December, 2015  ta  and the  neighborhood ( 60 boys – 57 girls).
