Psychosocial support activities aim at releasing and relieving children in general and children at detention  centers in particular of stress, and get them out of unusual environment to an atmosphere more like their  natural condition in their homes . Besides, Such activities contribute to prepare and encourage children to attend school and vocational  training  which are considered requisite and urgent need to develop children scientifically and socially.
The importance of psychosocial support for this category of children is to improve their  ability to deal with unusual circumstances, including high levels of tension. Due to that, the local community should  gear their efforts to face and deal with these odds well in order to rebuild and regain juveniles’ normal  life,  Also, Psychosocial support contributes to alleviate the intense suffering depending on the individual and community resources and overcome successfully the difficulties juveniles facing during the period they placed in  SGCs  which its results  manifested on all individuals in these centers. Accordingly, Together Foundation for Development and Human Rights organized a number of activities on psychosocial support for children at social guidance centers and detention centers in Al-Amanh and Amran.

Target groups

– Children ( boys – girls) at detention centers.
– Staff working with children (social workers- psychologists).

Activities implemented in 2013:

– Organized (4) recreational trips for children in Dar Al- Tawjeeh El- Ejteema’ee for Boys, Al- Amanh targeted 120 (80 of children and 40 of workers( teachers, supervisors, social workers, and psychologists).
– Organized two recreational events for girls in Dar Al- Amal, Al- Amanh and provided the girls with toys and drawing kits targeted 43 girls.
– Provided  Dar Al- Tawjeeh El- Ejteema’ee for Boys, Al- Amanh with sport tools , equipments,and  clothes in 28 th August, 2013 targeted 60 children.

Activities implemented in 2014:

– Provided Amran Central Prison, Juvenile Section with sport tools , equipment ,and  clothes in 24 th April, 2014 targeted 30 children.

–  Organized 4 Open Day events for juveniles and their families in Dar Al- Tawjeeh El- Ejteema’ee for Boys, Dar Al- Amal, Al- Amanh  and Amran Central Prison, Juvenile Section. The activity aimed  to provide psychosocial support for children at detention centers and reinforce the child’s relationship with his/her family as a preliminary step toward post care targeted 200 ( 100 children  – 100 adults).

Activities implemented in 2015

  • Held two orientation sessions for Dar Al- Tawjeeh El- Ejteema’ee for Boys and Dar Al- Amal staff on PFA ( psychological first aid) in April 2015 targeted 40 of people ( 25 males- 15 females).
  • Held two orientation sessions for children in Dar Al- Tawjeeh El- Ejteema’ee for Boys  and Dar Al- Amal, Al- Amanh on Salamati Salamatic booklet targeted 65 children

( 40 boys – 25 girls).

  • Organized sport activities for children in Dar Al- Tawjeeh El- Ejteema’ee for Boys targeted 104 children.
